- Child maintenance, custody and paternity services
- Family reconciliation and probation services
- Prison aftercare support
- Oversight of children’s homes and adoption processes
- Supervision of day-care centres
- Hospital welfare and psychiatric social work services
- Support services for destitute persons
- Registration of NGOs operating within the Municipality
- Community-based rehabilitation and vocational training for persons with disabilities
- Income-generation support for rural women
- Poverty alleviation support through the LEAP programme
- Literacy and adult education classes
- Mobilisation of communal labour for community facilities such as water systems, schools, libraries and public spaces
- Community sensitisation and group formation
