A development permit authorises a person to undertake development in line with zoning, planning standards and structural requirements, while a building permit governs the technical construction of a building, including structural stability, fire safety and weather resistance.<\/p>\n<p>Activities that typically require a development or building permit include erecting a new building or structure, structural alterations or renovations, temporary structures, demolition, extensions, change of use or re-zoning, and sub-division or amalgamation of plots.<\/p>\n<p>To apply, applicants are generally required to submit a completed application to the Physical Planning Department together with proof of land ownership, architectural and structural drawings prepared by qualified professionals, a soil test report, a fire safety report from the Ghana National Fire Service, and an Environmental Protection Agency permit where applicable.
